Construction Environmental and Health Safety

Construction sites are dynamic activities where workers engage in many activities that may expose them to a variety of safety hazards, such as falling objects, working from rooftops or scaffolding, exposure to heavy construction equipment, or the use of temporary electrical circuits while operating electrical equipment and machinery in damp locations. Construction activities with the Pittsburgh Platform comprise a wide range of activities including construction of new buildings, renovation of existing facilities, and major repair or alterations of building systems. Through implementation of safe work practices, training, and compliance with federal, state, and local regulatory requirements, the Pittsburgh Platform Workplace Safety program aims to identify, control, or eliminate construction-related hazards.

Environmental risk management begins with being aware of pollutants that can harm the environment and taking measures to reduce their impacts. The Pittsburgh Platform is alive to enforce Environment, Health & Safety (EH&S), Environmental Protection and Permitting Program (EP3) coordinates Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs) by investigating site soil and groundwater quality first to analyze the root of the problem.
